Why We Exist

The Friends of California Archives was formed in 2008 to support the preservation and use of the Golden State’s archival materials for the public.  From local to state government entities and private to public institutions and organizations, California’s historical records holders possess rich treasure troves of our diverse history.  The Friends strives to serve as a clearinghouse and resource for the public when searching for where historical records relating to people, places and activities are located throughout California.
